Except for operations whose gross income from organic sales totals $5,000 or less, farm and processing operations that grow and process organic agricultural products must be certified by USDA-accredited certifying agents.
Coeliac Australia Endorsement Program
The Coeliac Australia Endorsement Program, utilising the Crossed Grain Logo, is a trademark owned and administered by Coeliac Australia under a licence agreement. The symbol of the crossed grain in a circle is both nationally and internationally recognised by those who need to follow a gluten free diet. Products that use this logo are: - Gluten Free – the product must be tested to have no detectable gluten as per the FSANZ guidelines for gluten free. - Subject to laboratory testing every 12 months. - Independently approved. - Supporting those following a gluten free diet.
Australian Pork Limited (APL) Free Range (FR)
Free Range (FR) means that pigs are kept permanently outdoors for their entire life with shelter from the elements provided, furnished with bedding.
All pigs raised under FR conditions must comply with the Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals – Pigs to show compliance with state animal welfare regulations and use good land management practices as per the National Environmental Guidelines for Piggeries.
Meat Standards Australia
Meat Standards Australia (MSA) was developed by the Australian red meat industry to improve the eating quality consistency of beef and sheepmeat. The system is based on almost 700,000 consumer taste tests by over 100,000 consumers from nine countries and takes into account all factors that affect eating quality from the paddock to the plate.
